Good day. Keeping it simple.
On Linux
SystemRescue USB writer: Recommended USB installation method on Linux
Version 1.1.0 of the USB Writer supports SystemRescue version 12.03
I downloaded the iso 12.03 file and its corresponding sha256 checksum. = Success.
I’m told that “Version 1.1.0 of the USB Writer supports SystemRescue version 12.03.”
The 1.1.0 vs of sysrescueusbwriter-x86_64.AppImage downloaded OK.
BUT the corresponding .sha256 file is problematic
“Download the checksum file” and verify the authenticity with sha256sum --check sysrescueusbwriter-x86_64.AppImage.sha256
Symptoms : downloading by right-clicking on “Download the checksum file”
see above…
I get a file of size 3448 which, on inspection, is an HTML file !!!
When I try to use wget to download the same file, I get the message “no such file” !!!
When I generate my own .sha256 chk file, I get a file 101 bytes in size containing
“232a6…01a2e sysrescueusbwriter-x86_64.AppImage”
This is the sort of file I would expect from the download.
(there is, of course, no actual verification of the true .AppImage file achieved
by comparing against my own home made file even though it does work)
I have performed the above two tests on files downloaded using a fully updated
version of Ubuntu 24.04 and repeated on a standalone copy of systemrescue Vs 12.3
The results are the same.
I await comments with interest,
reader
